When Is Enough Enough?

Its great to back, I haven't written a blogpost in awhile.. Feel refreshed and have had a great week... Where have I been? Overseas? No... Away for the weekend.. Ahhhh not quite.. We've stayed at home here in Sydney and finally managed to have a few good nights sleep.. feels so much better than a holiday ever could.

Somewhere between falling pregnant and giving birth I lost being able to sleep through the night.. Call it nesting but about the point of being 6 months pregnant my body clock was preparing me for the life change about to come.. After giving birth I found sleeping was non-existent eventually letting our baby run our lives and co-sleep...First I didn't develop enough milk.. yes me with breasts I thought were born to produce milk found it challenging to breast feed.. giving up isn't in my DNA and I tried and tried for six months only to finally surrender to co-feeding.. in the meantime Izac was constantly cranky not getting sleep.. who can blame him really.. he was just doing what I'd let him.. and I was just doing what I knew.. which at that stage of my new life job of being a mother was absolutely nothing.. I really wondered why newborns didn't come with instruction manuals that were individually made at that point.

I'd read the books that preached control crying, routine but honestly was too tired and challenged to make them work. Karitane was pointless, actually we were asked to leave after 24 hours.. Izac came down with diarrhea and we were escorted out of the building like we had the plague.. I fully understood why and would have complemented them on their strict " no sick children policy" had it not have been for a phone call a week later from their customer service department asking me had I enjoyed my stay and had the program been successful.. It was then that I informed them perhaps they should read their discharge notes prior to ringing a past patient ..

Most recently, after six months of being on a day care list, the new carer also told us Izac was too difficult after two days in day care... at that point I said enough is enough..

I have to be honest to say what the day care worker said really threw me.. nobody likes to think of their child as challenging.. whilst I've known all along that he's a little lets say hard he's also beautiful, cheeky and an amazing little boy. What this child worker did was motivate me to make a choice. That day I choose to change our behavior and his. I choose to stop letting our child run our life and choose to teach him how to sleep alone.

I rang a Sydney Baby & Toddler Sleep Specialist referred to me by Body Beyond Baby - a specialist in helping mummies regain their post baby weight. I'd spoken to Lorraine from Family Angels a few time over the past few months and didn't really think my Izac fit the criteria for them to work with us.. Ok so sleepness nights, check, constantly waking, check.. having to be hugged constantly and lie down with him to fall asleep, check... crankly during the day.. ahhh yes check.. Ok so who was I kidding?

Still I waited until I knew enough was enough... and now that we're almost at the other and Izac is sleeping through the night I don't know what took me so long to realise we needed help. At about this time last week I really wondered if my child was that difficult or if it was something I didn't know how to do.

And along comes Lorraine from Family Angels to help educate us on how to get little Izac to sleep. She was warm and spent some time finding out about our current routine and just seemed to know how to read Izac and what was going on. She stayed with us three nights in total and has stayed in constant touch to find out how he's going. Not only can I see the world of difference in his sleeping routine but he's a happier little boy. Day 6 and he only took 15 minutes to fall asleep and is sleeping through the night (which in 19 months has never happened).

Now I know there may be some critics out there who may ask why we couldn't do this alone? After two years of not sleeping our mind's and bodies gave up.. Sure we had the occasional night of sleep when he was at my mums but with us there was no rest.. not one night where he managed to go asleep alone or didn't wake at least 3-8 times. We tried, gave up and co-existed with a child we love and didn't know how to put into a routine. What did she do differently than us?

Hmmm now that's simple.. With over 20 years experience Lorraine was quick to read Izac.. and he was quick to fall into step. He struggerled with it, screamed down the house and even came out with his own surprises but he like many before him have learned to sleep on his own. Yes I now believe it can be done. He now knows when bed time is approaching and tonight told me he was tired and ready to read his book with his body actions. Sure he fell asleep on the floor screaming the first few nights but the last two he got into bed himself.. Sure it was hard to hear him screaming but harder to know he has been cranky and exhausted as a toddler by waking so many times during the night.

Night 2 I asked Loraine if he would know how to find his bed in the dark after falling asleep on the floor and she looks at me and saids, "if he knows how to find your room in the dark and crawl into your bed, I guarantee you he can find his own".. Ummm good point.

I feel blessed that Lorraine gave me the knowledge and courage to give our son the ability to fall into a deeper sleep alone, help him grow, learn and give us back our lives from the point of constant exhaustion..

So there it is.. I always like to give credit where it is due and Lorraine you have changed our lives.. I could go on and on about what she did but really what worked for us may not work for you. To be honest I think that's why it worked so well compared to books, reading all the advice in the world and not getting results. This angel came into our home, our environment and gave us what we needed to make a difference. Now we're not quite there yet but I know it won't be long ... Its also fair to say that the reason this worked so well is because we were ready to listen to the advice and go through with it.. It isn't enough to hear all the advice unless you are ready to carry through with what the advice is.

If you're reading this and thinking enough's enough I'm here to tell you something can be done but you and your child need to be ready to ask for help! Ring around, talk to a professional and find a solution. It made a difference to my family!

Originally looking for a alternative to dry skin and eczema for years, Founder Sarah was sick of doctors prescriptions, creams, salves, special dry-skin formulated washes and nothing seemed to help her poor skin. Extra large baby wraps aren't easy to find.. you know the ones that just seem to still be able to wrap your baby completely even though they're older than three months? Sydney Mother & Daughter team Dell and Jayne set about back in 2009 to design and make unique, beautiful styles that complimented the personalities of our little bundles and of course our prams. They also found that the extra large wraps could be used over the pram to protect bubs from insects and sunlight in nap time and work just as well for twin prams which are of course wider or longer than most prams.

Their inspiration to launch Charli Bee Designs was from frustration from not being able to find swaddles for babies after they reached 4-5 months of age and eventually the mother and daughter team started making their own. With so many compliments received from other mothers Charli Bee was launched.

Talk us through the Forever Bliss story and what inspired you to create it?

I have many years experience working in the advertising and commercial photography industry, and after the birth of my first child Jack, I was taking hundred of photos of him, as you can imagine! Then my friends started asking me to photograph their children, and their friends, and friends of their friends etc wanted me to photograph their babies, so Forever Bliss Photography was born!

Working with children can be rewarding and challenging at the same time, what’s the formula to capturing those precious moments on camera?

Yes, what's that old saying? never work with children and animals! It is very very rewarding to me, to be able to capture a child's personality, a beautiful sleepy baby and the relationship and love happening in those first few weeks with a new baby. Honestly it has a lot to do with patience, and practice, I have some clients call me the baby whisperer!

When a child hates having there photograph taken you....

I take the time to get the know the child, it can be quite overwhelming for them, so I quite often will put the camera down and just chat with them, tell them some silly stories, tickle them, play with them, make then feel comfortable with me. If I can get them laughing at me for being silly that usually works!

Your most memorable photography moment?

Gosh, that's a hard one. It would have to be capturing the exact image I had in my mind of my boys at the beach at sunset. I now have that image printed on canvas 30x40" on my lounge room wall. I love it so much!

Hi, Deni here again with another guest blog review! Having been on board with Allie's Attic since the first market almost a year ago, I have worked with some really great designers and seen so many beautiful products. I have also done my fair share of shopping along the way!

One of my favourite purchases (actually, I bought one for each of my kids), was from Urchin at the last market we attended in Mosman back in April, and I was thrilled to hear that they were making their way south for our September market.

Urchin's clothing is both designed and made in Australia from 100% cotton. Comfy T-shirts are available in sizes for 3 months up to 4/5 years - and sizes up to 12 months are also envelope neck, plus they have baby onesies for up to 12months.

Certain to be a favourite of the Cronulla coastal community, are the beachy thong, lobster and sandcastle designs!

We have been admiring this gorgeous label for a while, having met them at Kid's Instyle a few years back with their gorgeous bamboo baby range.

Now adding beautiful pieces for women to their collection, we welcome eco-fashion label Sahara Bloom to the Allie's Attic designer line up this September!

With a background in fashoin and a love of textiles, Melissa Yeong had been long aware of the environmental hazards that synthetics and even some "natural" fibers have, as a result of the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides in farming practises. This led Melissa to follow a journey that would see the development of her own fashion label Sahara Bloom.

After extensive research, Melissa discovered a passion for a natural fabric made from bamboo, a plant found in abundance in China, grown without ANY pesticides, this is due to its natural anti-bacterial properties.

One such designer is Rochelle from Summerblossom.

Rochelle beautifully hand crafts her range refreshing and unique hair accessories, and is always a favourite with the Allie's Attic community.

September Designer Review: Cheeky Chickies

An oldie but a goodie!

Cheeky Chickies have been on board and attended every single Allie's Attic market since we started almost a year ago now. With their range of bright, bold coordinates for babies and children. Both their fabric, which is knitted from 100% certified organic cotton, and their garments, are all made in Australia.

Its exciting to have a label on board that has been featured in a number of magazines, including Shop 4 Kids, My Child, Studio Bambini, Peppermint Magazine, Little One Baby and Little One Design and Style.

Deni Fowle, aka Mrs Chicken, tells us that she has some exciting things in stall for our September market!

Firstly, there will be a fantastic sale rack with end of season, discontinued styles and ever so slightly imperfect pieces - all marked down to just $25! This includes the comfy sleeveless dress, and some of her beautiful long sleeve cropped cardigans - both perfect pieces for the inbetween season! Plus, a sale table with tees, tunics and tanks marked down to 2 For $25!

Mrs Chicken has also let us in on a new project that she has been working om, and will be launching at Allie's Attic this Saturday! The label will feature a range of organic cotton women's tees, with unique applique designs, new Rosette Brooch designs, such as the Double Trouble Rosette Brooch worn on the model in the picture, plus beaded jewellery also lovingly handcrafted by Mrs Chicken! Not sure how she finds all the time, but we certainly look forward to seeing the new collection and the launch of the business name!

It has been such an exciting time in the lead up to our September market, and we have been busy little bees on our talent skouting mission. It was at the recent Young Blood Designer Market at The Power House Museum, that we first set our eyes upon Identitaet, and were thrilled when their application popped up in our inbox!

Identitat is the German word for Identity, and one of the creative outlets for busy Fashion Designer Svenja. We fell in love with the bold prints on these reversible bandana dribble bibs and Newsboy Caps, made here in Sydney, using a combination of 100% cotton plain corduroy on one side and funky stars or stiped printed fabric on the reverse. So stylish and oh so cute!

Svenja couldn't be happier since her move to Australia, revelling in the outdoors, sunshine, and a spot of yoga on the beach - and as such, has also released a range of comfortable yoga wear and accessories.

With her hand to many projects including felt accessories, and hand screen printing, it will be exciting to see the unique products that Svenja introduces to the Allie's Attic community, "I've got a passion for all kinds of textiles, and sitting on my sewing machine is like meditation to me". Sandra has been designing jewerelly since 1995 and has designed and played with precious metals producing an array of original pieces. A true artist she best enjoys working with the raw material, seeing what it can do in her mind as she continues to design and a new piece is formed. September Entertainment Review: Emma Watts

Born in the UK, Emma commenced her career in performing arts like many, singing and dancing for hours on end, entertaining family and friends. At age 8, Emma's parents introduced her to musical instruments, commencing with the clarinet, and this progressed to saxophone, piano and formal vocal training.

Emma went on to study Music at the beautiful and historic University of Bath, where she specialised in Early Childhood and Music Therapy. Branching out, Emma then started performing with a a 12 piece blues band, playing the saxophone and providing back up vocals.

In late 1999 Emma found herself travelling abroad, and landed here in Australia. It wasn't long before she not only fell in love with the country, but also the man of her dreams. She now resides in the Sutherland Shire, and has two beautiful girls aged 4 years and 22months. Many of our stallholders will know Emma, as she is a regular visitor to our market, making many a beautiful and unique purchase among our talented designers!

Emma is also quite well known throughout the Sutherland Shire too, as over the years she has taught and supervised in a music shop in Caringbah, managed a number of school choirs and bands, and has worked with some great musicians and performed regular sold out gigs at The Brass Monkey in Cronulla. Emma currently manages the G4 Guitar School, which has locations around Australia.

Emma talks of her passion for giving children the gift of music and including music as part of their education from as young as possible, "learning music from a young age can have amazing effects on their learning in other areas such as maths, english and learning foreign languages, as well as instilling self confidence and self esteem".

Emma's music style has been influenced by the blues artists she grew up listening to at home as a child, "I used to complain to my parents about their sad taste in music, and now I am singing those very songs", laughs Emma.

We are thrilled to have Emma performing live throughout the market day next Saturday, expect to hear a some songs from Eric Clapton, Bonnie Rait, Van Morrison, Cindi Lauper and Kasey Chambers. Emma will be accompanied by the very talented guitarist Michael Essery, who is also a G4 teacher and teacher trainer, operating his own successful business at Emu Plains.

It started with a cuppa when Melanie and Rema, two crazy mothers decided they needed abit more to life.. This was back in 2009 when Mougiddy was born and so they set to design beautiful unique items for their children and then others.

Often the dining table was their main designated working area, patterns were drawn, materials were cut and chocolate biscuits were devoured.. I'm liking these girls already!

Mougiddy's Spring Range includes their best selling items such as Bibs and Travel Pencil/Crayon Wallet Set. They are also releasing some exciting new products including Spring Pram Liners and a baby towel wrap, sure to be an essential item! I can't wait to see their new collection in linen including a matching quilt set in a safari theme which also complements their small bedroom furniture pieces including Mougiddy Time Out Chair, Toybox and / or Bookcase!

After gaining a degree in Editorial Styling, Curator Melissa Ransfield put her mind to Harley & Rose, named after her son Harley! Launching their new Spring collection, you'll find gorgeous new clutches, wallets, totes, mummy bags and tusk clothing with some stunning key season pieces.

Sydney Womens Sutherland Shire Launch..

Ever left a networking event and just thought, wrong crowd, wrong dynamics and no genuine energy? Today I visited the Sydney Women's Network Launch in the Sutherland Shire and enjoyed a energetic buzz in a room full of 100+ women. Now the idea of a networking luncheon is no one knows each other and yet these women had no problem in talking!!

But then, that's what we do best isn't it? We network, talk, meet find out what each other do and then how we can all help each other! I was amazed and in awe at the inspirational women in the room all down to earth, all quite friendly and all Shire locals. It was also really nice to hear women come up to me, tell me they've heard of Allies and that they can't wait for next weekend to see our amazing array of designers.

Allies Attic also had our very own trade table for the event where we showcased some amazing talent like Cheeky Chickies, Blucy, Forver Bliss Photograghy, Arthur Ave and Leonie Simpson Jewerelly giving guests the opportunity to see the sorts of designers we have on board at Allies.

By all accounts, our stall caused some excitement as I heard quite a few guests inquire if they could buy the key pieces on display... I myself wanted to take home Leonie's jewelery piece only made recently which hasn't even been photographed yet.. sadly it went home with Leonie but has promised to return itself to me after its been captained for Leonie's collection. I'll be counting down the days to bring my new piece home..

We were also photographed for the St George Leader to go into the paper next week.. I'm very passionate about providing a talent for emerging Australian artists and fortunate to have found such lovely designers.. I'd love to hear your feedback about our article next week. September Designer Review: Leonie Simpson | Jewellery Design

I am absolutely thrilled to be writing a guest post on Inside The Attic today!

When the decision was made to expand the Allie's Attic product categories, it opened up the doors to such a massive talent pool of designers. Having a bit of a crush on boutique markets myself, with a love for sourcing unique and superbly made products, and blogging when I can,I couldn't resist the temptation to get out there myself and do a bit of talent scouting and head hunting.

One of my most exciting finds is jewellery designer Leonie Simpson.

Through out her school years, Leonie developed a keen interest in art and design, particularly photography, ceramics and jewellery,however, like many of us, did not follow this direction initially in her chosen career, and began to find herself uninspired, longing for motivation and frustrated with the direction her life was heading, she made the brave decision to quit her job and start on this new adventure! Leonie says, "I haven't looked back since!"

And we can certainly see why...

Leonie works with a unique product called Polymer Clay, to create funky, colourful beds, embellishments and pendants. She finishes each piece with natural leather or cotton cord. The pieces are refined, yet striking. Real statement pieces! New to her repetoire will be the addition of resin and silver - looking forward to seeing these creations.

Leonie's designs are inspired by nature, drawing on the imagery of her neighbourhood landscape of bushland and the river. Leonie relays, "I find colour itself very emotive. I also love visiting galleries with my sketchbook, spending time with my favourite works, and being inspired by their creative energy".

It is an absolute honour to have the talents of Leonie Simpson showcasing at our Spring market. Leonie will be launching her new "Seasons" collection, where she explores the unique characteristics of the four seasons, presenting them in different forms. Leonie explains, "I have an interest in abstract and modernist art, and this is reflected in my pieces, where the use of colour and geometric shapes represents my ideas and designs".

You can see more of Leonie's works through her Blog and meet her in person at the Allie's Attic spring market on Saturday 18th September. I for one feel very priveleged to be working alongside such talent!

Tippie Toes is a creative take on handmade vintage clothing and accessories showing just a little something that's a little bit different. Now its all a little hush hush but I have it first hand from the production room at Tippie Toes that Leonie is bringing back a fantastic collection of elegant lines for this Spring letting the fabrics, cut and shape do the talking.

I love being a mummy but sometimes even I miss abit of "us time" with hubby and myself.. A sat night where we can dress up, go out for a nice meal minus the french fries being thrown across the room and maybe even sit and listen to some live music? Only problem is now with Master Izac almost 2 years I'd rather have him in bed by 8pm then bother with a screaming challenge in a restaurant..

Becoming parents is a lifestyle choice which I wouldn't have any other way but I do also think its nice to have some alone time hence why I started investigating credible baby sitters / nannies to do nights in whilst we had a few hours to ourselves.. Doesn't happen often but even once every few months is a blessing!

Call me old fashioned but I prefer to use a regular sitter, perhaps it just feels like a trusted family member who can get used to how your household runs and your child can also form a bond. Blucy is Brooke Lucy, talented Shire Designer and ex animator for Disney.. yes that's right the worldwide Disney Productions. There's so much talent coming out of the Shire & Allies Attic lately, firstly there's Natasha Dwyer of Arthur Ave (who just quietly designed the Miss Australia National Costume for Jesinta Campbell in the Miss Universe pageant) and now Brooke Lucy who did I mention is always very busy at Allies Attic with her embellished tee's and colorful artwork to hang on your children's wall.

Multi-talented Brooke has three divisions to her creative little company, one her clothing range for little munchkins, the other her selection of artwork and thirdly her animations! And if that fails to delight you we know you'll love how very genuine the curator, Brooke is towards her quality of work. Brooke creates pieces that are also beautiful without breaking the bank.

By now you might have heard the hype, Allies is expanding! I really love the idea that whilst we mums are shopping for gorgeous baby and kids things we might also be able to find some fabulous keepsakes for ourselves in our travels.

With only weeks away until our Spring Launch & our new look, I thought it might be time to unveil some of the unique designers we've found to showcase in our attic.

Sydney Jewelery Designer, Lady Soldier transforms simple combinations of beads, chains and ornaments into a statement jewelery piece. The creator of this newly launched label is Tao, a Northshore girl who after completing her Masters in Interactive and Digital Media, has decided to try her hand at all things handmade! Its contemporary meets vintage charm. And just where does this designer draw her inspiration from? Its Tao's mum, who inspired her daughter from a young age, being handy with the needle and thread herself, handmaking Tao's clothes when throughout her childhood. A few years on, Tao now turns her creative genes towards the beautiful creation of her keepsake jewelery.

Sydney Womens Network Supports Shire Women In Business!

I always envisaged running my own business but thought.. how could I go from earning a full time wage to nothing for who knows how long.. and then after having Izac and essentially having no wage that fear was gone.. with nothing to loose I kept thinking I have everything to gain! For me, starting Allies came at the right time because I kept that thought in my mind.

Coming from a corporate background I have always used networking companies to increase my brand awareness and more than anything increase my potential client base to contacts I wouldn't otherwise make.. I've found that potential customers like to build positive business relationships and draw on these contacts when in need.. I know myself I'd rather ring someone I know for a quote then go and source a new supplier. I think its because it makes me feel more comfortable.. Now with Allies, I'm fortunate enough to work with mostly women (who are so much more logical in getting things done)... and came across a women networking group called Sydney Women's Network..

Just like many of us the founders of SWN, Cindy Steele and Natalie Moutia started from scratch to create a group based on like minded professional business woman all interested in growing their businesses, learning and expanding their business base of contacts. I love their genuine nature and willingness to lend a hand. I've even been to a few of their meetings, lunches and Expo in the last month and really enjoyed meeting with woman in similar business situations to learn how they dealt with problems, mistakes and hear some success stories!

With 11 existing locations, SWN was also asked recently by the Shire council to start up a new group in the Sutherland Shire to help local business woman achieve their goals and will be holding a free networking Launch. I'm going along and would love to meet some fellow shire women in business too!

Our journey since we launched in November 2009 has been amazing with markets in Hunters Hill, Paddington & Mosman before setting up home in the Sutherland Shire earlier this year.

You're Fast Asleep & Your Smoke Alarm Goes Off..What Would You Do?

Its one of those things you think will never happen to you. Really what's the chance of your house burning down and if it did what would be the first thing you took whilst trying to save your life? Family photos? Passport? Mobile Phone? Chances are if you were in that situation the only thing that would really matter is getting everyone out of the house in time.

My heart went out this week to Bowral local, Lisa Rochiax and her family when I heard about their story. The fire was going through the house so quickly that they only had time to get all four kids out of bed and grab a mobile phone. The house has been totally destroyed with not much retrieved except for a few odds and ends.

And now here comes the mammoth task in rebuilding their lives and replacing everything from the simple items to larger home appliances not to mention the house itself. Lisa's story was actually introduced by a friend of hers, Katie Alpen who's just as passionate as me in helping others in a time of need.

Along with Allies Attic I also have another hat in which I am also a signatory BraOlogist. Today infact I'm going along to a Allies Attic designers house to hold a Lingerie party.. where no doubt I'll spend a few hours styling, measuring and fitting Katie's friends for new bra's.. It's Katie that rang me to tell me about Lisa.. and hence our idea to hold today's party as a fund raising venture for Lisa to help her replace a few essential items.. Ahhh how i love two minds getting together for the greater good!

I'd also like to rally together and help Lisa and her family to replace some much needed items as quickly as possible. All help would be appreciated and every bit counts!

A NEW mum is doing her part to support small businesses by encouraging shoppers to buy Australian-made.

Allie Duval said she was disappointed when she started shopping for clothes for son Izac and discovered most items were mass-produced and imported.

She started Allies Attic, a market specialising in handcrafted, limited-edition pieces of clothing, accessories and homewares.

The indoor market will be held from 10am to 2pm at Sharkies this Saturday.

"Once I started shopping for him I realised everything was blue for boys and pink for girls,'' Mrs Duval said. "I wanted something that wasn't mass-produced.''

Items from local businesses including Tippy Toes, Cheeky Chickies and Blucy are sold at the markets.

"I was quite passionate about starting a market that would support small businesses and mums working at home,'' Mrs Duval said.

She spent several months researching designers at different markets to ensure the right mix of stalls. Her research paid off, with many shoppers commenting on the beautiful quality of clothing.

To make the shopping experience even more relaxing a craft table is set up to keep little hands busy.

"The support we're getting in the shire is just fantastic,'' Mrs Duval said. "There's definitely a need for it; there's not a lot out there like what we've got.''

I love winter fashion.. all the scarfs, coats, boots and especially hats - so much more can be done in winter and unlike summer, layering is so much more fun.

It's also true in winter, rugging up also means keeping warm.. I'm already on the hunt for a new winter coat and I can never have enough hats... I think I'm up to 9 but honestly who's counting.. some collect shoes.. its hats for yours truly and more often than not covers a bad hair day happening which is very frequently the case as a working mummy on the run.

You can imagine how excited I am that our dee-licious markets are just around the corner where I know I'll find lots of winter warmers for my little one and also presents for a few birthday's I have coming up. I just love this outfit pictured here by Sydney designer Cheeky Chickies... I love how well key pieces and layering bring such fun to an outfit! Seek And You Shall Find....

Walking into retail baby shops I'm constantly bombarded with blue is for boys and pink is for girls.. Whilst certainly pretty here lies exactly the reason Allies Attic was born.. and seek I did for unique beautiful products that were also original!

One of my favorite labels for boys is SOODAbub pictured on Izac my son here... I almost think Izac's whole wardrobe is SOODA.. this seasons range has everything from funky to dressy without the price tags to boot! And in between I'm not ashamed to say I shop generic for socks, singlets and extras here and there.. there's nothing wrong with mixing and matching now is there.

Now that's what I love about opportunity to be the best you can be... In becoming a mummy I also decided I wanted to use my business skills and bring genuine Australian labels to Sydney mums! No imports, No generic mass produced - just limited production beautiful local products... And in turn I also get to help mummies work from home whilst supporting their families.

Here I am a new WAHM (work at home mum).. doing something I honestly love! I'd love to hear more from you about what it is that inspires you and how you've turned it into a hobby or a career.. I know there's lots of us out there, tell me your story!

Allies Attic had a successful launch in the Sutherland Shire showcasing a large selection of local handmade designers. Local support come far and wide to have a look see at all of our talented designers who also happen to be mums!

Indoors and air conditioned we also had a wonderful craft area for the kids to play whilst mummies shopped. With so many new designers on board I couldn't help myself but to purchase some fantastic items I had been eying off for awhile now on blogs.. (shhhh I must remember to hide that bank statement).

We'll be back in Cronulla in May but in the meantime you can find us at our Mosman Location Easter Long Weekend. Magic in Fairyland will be making a Special Easter Fairy visit and of course there will be a Easter Craft Area. Only two weeks to go until Allies Mosman which also happens to fall on the same day as the monthly Mosman Markets!

I read this recently on the new SUNNY MUMMY website. Normally I scan through new sites half reading whilst thinking about a million other things... Its a female trait right, multitasking and all that.. Well this site actually made me STOP and read..

Created by Sydney Mummy, Stacey Sullaphen, Stacey's philosophy is simple.. A sunny mummy is someone who looks after herself so she has something left to give her family.... And although skeptical I have to say Sunny Mummy site is so much more than fluffy peaches and cream!

Whilst Allies Attic is for all things handmade I am a advocate for products to make our lives as mums easier!
